For those that know the beginning of the story, this is an update of the past few weeks. For those that don't know the beginning, be patient, the whole story is coming soon!
Two weeks ago, we were contacted by Human Resources in Campus Crusade. They wanted to try to get us in the November New Staff Training. That is very good news! At the time, we did not have our Crusade approval or our International Approval. This was a huge blessing from the Lord. If we did not go in November, we would have to wait until January or perhaps next May. New Staff Training is an introduction to Campus Crusade as well as a training for raising support. In other words, after this training, we will be able to begin the process of raising support!
Now, at this point, we also learned that we had some work to do for our International Placement. Crusade sent us a packet with a Meyers-Briggs Personality test, as well as a sealed packet. The sealed packet contained several tests that we needed to take under the supervision of a Proctor. Jana lined up a proctor at Christ Chapel Bible Church and the date was set. We took the tests on Monday, October 13th. Contrary to the instructions they only took 3 hours instead of 5!! We put them in the mail that afternoon.
The latest news we recieved came today (October 20). They have approved us for International Service, and we will be attending the November training in 2 weeks!! We also learned that as of now, they have us slated to work in Kandern, Germany. For those who have not heard of this town, don't worry, we had not either!! It is a smaller town, of about 5,000 people located just south of Freiburg, Germany and just north of Basil, Switzerland. Kandern is in the Black Forrest area, and as we have heard from several people, it is also considered the missionary "hub" for western Europe. Apparently, there is a mix of many cultures as a result. We have been told that the specific office for Campus Crusade has people from the U.S., France, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia working there. This placement could possibly change though upon meeting/talking with people about Jana's placement. Since her skills are a bit more specific, we will have to seek out a position for her to use her talents adequately.
We still have a few tasks to complete between now and November 1st, so please pray for our hearts, minds, and attitudes to be focused. We offer our heart felt appreciation to each of you for your prayers, questions, encouragement, and patience in the start of this journey.
