We made it half way!
We drove for 14 hours, through 8 rainstorms, 5 states, 1 wonderful small town and many long bridges to finally arrive here in Pensacola, FL.
We had a wonderful drive, despite getting to our hotel nearly 3 hours late! most of the drive saw a lot of rain, which then caused a huge traffic jam in Baton Rouge. We were doing great as far as time goes up to that point! An hour later, still in Baton Rouge, we kind of knew we were going to be late.
Through all of that, we had a wonderful time.
Needless to say, we made it somewhere. We are now enjoying a cozy Holiday Inn in Pensacola. Of course, my favorite part of this room... free, wireless internet!!! Thank you Holiday Inn!
The highlight of our drive was a spontaneous stop in Natchitoches, which was the home town of a good friend. We took lunch at Merci Beaucoup, where Jana had a veggie sandwich and fruit and I had a shrimp Po Boy. However, the best parts of the meal were the appetizer, Natchitoches meat pie and the dessert, Apple dumplings. The meals were great but they were nothing compared to the before and after!
We have some pictures already, though since we arrived a bit late, I do not think they will go up tonight. If we have internet sometime this weekend, we will get them up for your viewing pleasure.
Have a great weekend! See you in Orlando!!
