Sprechen Sie Deutsch?

Normally, I would say "Thank goodness it's Friday" but that does not really apply this week. I know we told most of you out there that we would not learn German until we got to Kandern, but, well, it turns out that we are...

This week was our "Language Learning" week. We learned about a new technique that AIT uses for learning a language. We originally thought we would use a program called LAMP, but again, we were wrong. This method is very good and seemingly very useful. It would take too much to describe it here, so I will basically say that we are learning German the same way that an infant or small child would learn their language. First we are working on comprehension of the language, simply hearing words said while we associate them with objects. After some time, we will work on speaking words that we are very familiar with.

We have a German language helper that says the words for us, then drills with us over and over and over making sure we have the association down. Our language helper's name is Claudia. We will continue meeting with her a few times while we are here. She is very patient with us! Some of the sessions are a touch tedious but she helps us with a smile on her face everytime!

Well, I could go on for a long time about the language stuff. Basically, we had a great week, have already learned quite a bit of German and we are excited about learning more!

Tomorrow, we are heading to Cocoa Beach for some "Team Building" excercises. We will give you more details tomorrow night!
