MinistryNet: Delivery
Day 2 (or 3 if you count the introduction on Sunday) is well under way. Today, we are mainly talking about the way to deliver our message. Our first topic was branding. Later today, we will be taking a bus tour of Budapest! But first, our morning session...
Basically speaking, we are talking about how we can take back the image of Christianity and Campus Crusade in places where those names carry negative images. How do we create websites, magazines and other media that delivers the message that we want to convey and stir the emotions that need to be touched.
We looked at several examples of branding by looking at some commercials from Pepsi and other companies that aired during the last Super Bowl. One particular topic of discussion is what can we, as Christians, do to better "advertise" what we are doing? What methods have we ignored in the past that we should use? An example of this is the Mel Gibson movie The Passion of the Christ. Most Christians would shy away from the violence and themes that Mel Gibson used. Was the film effective? Why? What was different? He used more radical methods to reach into more radical areas of our societies.
A good example of this, that was not mentioned in this session, is the UK ministry Throwstar (http://www.throwstar.com/. This is a very edgy site that is not aimed at the traditional, conservative church goer.
These are interesting thoughts that we will have to work through in order to reach into places that traditionally we have not been able to touch and reach the unreachable.
