Candlelight Dinner

I wanted to share with you an event that we were able to attend this past weekend. This link takes you to a slideshow of the annual Candlelight Dinner that is hosted by the Black Forest Academy, and put together by many folks in the area. It's a way for the school to say "thank you" to the people of Kandern and as well share with them God's great love for them.

Still Waiting...

We are still waiting for our car. The mechanic had trouble getting a part in. Last week was "Fasching" (I think I spelled that right), which means that there were Holidays! Anyway, we expect to have our car returned in the next couple of days...please be praying for the final bill to be less than the mechanic estimated.

Also, another update...we plan to be in Fort Worth in June after traveling to Cabo San Lucas for my sister's wedding. We are in the process of setting dates and booking plane tickets (pray for the American Airlines customer service to be helpful with us in trying to use our Miles and booking multiple flights...we can save upwards of $2000 if we can use all Miles!!).

Update on the Car

We took the car to a mechanic, Marcus, yesterday morning. This is someone my boss recommends and has known since the man was a youth in his town, so we felt pretty good about taking it to him. We heard from Marcus this morning and the news as far as the car is concerned is not great.

Pray for our Car

Pray for our car!!! We drove up to Freiburg today with some friends, and on the way back home it overheated. We couldn't tell exactly what was wrong, so we just took our time getting home by letting it cool and then going until it heated again. Pray for it to be something 'simple' as we take it into an autoshop on Monday, and pray for us to find a good mechanic too.

Thad is worried, so pray for him as well. He keeps saying, "Lord, I know your in control," so pray that his heart will be calmed through that.

What's happening in Kandern? What's your biggest struggle right now? Are you going to watch the Super Bowl? What does your German Driver's license look like? Why are there so many words that start with "sch" in Germany? Do they have to use them when naming shops?

I know, I know... you have many questions. So, in order to address them all, while also addressing none of them (except 1, of course I'm going to watch the Super Bowl!!!), I will tell you about what I am reading, while we are not working on German and unpacking boxes. Why would I do that? A little bit is because I am not ready to answer some of those questions, partly because I do not know the answers and mostly it is because some of those those questions are silly!!
