New Favorite Phrase
So, my new favorite German phrase is:
"Ja, Das ist richtig!!"
Only, it has to be said in the enthusiastic and emphasized way that makes you feel like you just discovered a priceless treasure.

Sprachschule
"Wir sind zu Sprachschule heute gegangen."
"We went to Language school today."
I am very happy, humbled, shocked, and excited to tell you that I put that entire sentence together on my own!!!
For a little while, I have been worried about my progress in language learning...it just didn't seem to be coming together. I had bits and pieces of vocabulary muddled up in my brain, but I didn't know how to use them. I continued with Rosetta Stone, our tutor in the office helped as much as she could, and I just kept trying to be patient with my little ol brain. LOL Moment
Ben and Melissa, this one is for you...as it reminded us of the upcoming concert you are going to.
So we are sitting in our German apartment waiting for some chicken to finish cooking for dinner. The windows are open because it is gorgeous outside. All is quiet except for the slight murmur of voices walking by. Some music starts getting louder from a distance, and we realize that it shouldn't be normal for us to hear a familiar song. "...every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I'll be watching you..." and then it fades again.
I just looked at Thad, and we both laughed.

Laugh Out Loud Moment (May 2007)
In most of our recent newsletters, we included a "Laugh Out Loud" moment. These are fun for us, because, at least at the time, we were laughing out loud. Sometimes they are at ourselves, but at the moment, most of them are cultural experiences. So, here is the one for May 2007:
After placing our food order at the restaurant near Castle Rotteln, we were given a number and told the following in English: “When your eat is ready, I will scream this number.”
Is that what we sound like when we speak German?
