Strange Viewing the Strange
So, we (me and two friends) were driving through Neuenburg. Melissa snapped this photo because we thought it was very strange to see a 'cafe' on the back of a truck. Apparently, the man getting his coffee thought we were strange for taking his picture.

Straussen
So, we often mention "Straussi's" to people when telling them about local culture. Here is a link to a good description of what a Straussi is.
Straussen
If you come to visit us, and it is Straussi Season (mid spring to mid summer...also in the fall), then you can experience a truly German meal and setting, where the owners rarely speak English. We love exploring/finding new ones and have even made it a regular outing with a small group from the office.
updated ~ Link to a list of Straussen...we are in Markgräflerland.

Dumas - Two Words
"So, do live and be happy, children dear to my heart, and never forget that, until the day when God deigns to unvail the future to mankind, all human wisdom is contained in these two words; 'wait' and 'hope'!"
~ Alexandre Dumas

Laugh Out Loud Moment (September 2007)
While participating in his first official ride in Germany, Tour de Hieber, Thad was looking for a particular “Halte” location, a Hieber’s grocery store. This conversation took place entirely in German. He asked where Hieber’s was. The elderly lady began laughing. Is this an akward language moment? She began saying “straight ahead, on the left.” He repeated the instructions. Again, laughter. “Straight ahead, on the left,” she repeated. At Thad’s confused look, she said, “I show you” and pointed, basically across the street, “straight ahead, on the left.” There it was, no more than 50 meters away. Thad began laughing himself and thanked her. She graciously smiled and still chuckling said “no problem!”

AE Now! ~ October
Part of our job is to help with the Bi-monthly publication of Agape Europe's newsletter to staff, Agape Europe Now!. This newsletter is meant to encourage fellow European Staff and to share with others what God is doing in Agape Europe. This is the first issue of our new design. Though it will likely be tweeked and polished a bit more.
We hope you enjoy this current issue. Please follow this link to read updates from a Student Summer Project in Paris, German Prayer Gathering, CM2007, and more: www.agapeeurope.org/aenow/index.html
